Tips for Basic Oral Care from the Dentist in Lake Katrine

Posted by Dentist in Lake Katrine on 09/09/12

Most people hope to keep their natural, permanent teeth, forever. Following recommendations from the Lake Katrine dentist is a great way to make sure they are able to do just that. Beginning as soon as the very first tooth erupts from a baby's mouth, certain practices should be carried out every day.

At home children should have their teeth cleaned beginning as soon as they erupt. Though the Lake Katrine dentist does not necessarily recommend that children use fluoridated toothpaste before around the age of 4, there are many types of fluoride-free training pastes that baby's can use as early as three months old. Children also benefit form simply having their teeth and gums wiped off with a warm, clean towel or thumb brush. In fact, the gums should be cleaned following meals, even before the baby's first tooth erupts or they begin solids.
